I say a separate section simply because searching via your phone for a wallpaper on this website isn't always a quick process. Especially for me where I live in the boonies and require a decent signal to surf the internet. Which I usually have to do on 2 bars. It's quite slow and one less step to get to the mobile wallpapers would be great.

I am of the opinion that a subsection would be the most appropriate, since, even though they're used for a different kind of device, they're still wallpapers. Maybe make it a slider like in the backroom, or just add something like a link over the most active.

I think a separate section would be way better. Mainly because when you're submitting things in wallpapers for example, if you just made a widescreen version you have to stuff your lovely widescreen wallpaper into a standard resolution too cause it's required........So likewise, if you just make something the resolution of a tablet or cellphone, it would be rather difficult to make a standard look good of that too.

Just sayin'.

I would just be happy if the site itself was mobile friendly. I have such a hard time even using this site on my phone. :) Just sayin'.

Not everyone uses the internet with the same devices, so maybe tablet and mobile wallpapers should be kept in a separate wallpapers section regardless of whether or not they contain the same images contained in the desktop computer wallpapers submitted to this website.

I'm going to say it should be in it's own section. When me and my friends visit sites like theO on our iPods and PSPs and other mobile devices that can use wallpapers we tend to look for the mobile specific stuff right away. So having it in it's own section would make things easier on users.

The Mask reminded me; how much traffic to the site is mobile and how long? When it comes to things like phones and gaming devices, I usually can't stand to be using them for too long. I can read, but those browsers seem to not be up to par for all the other functioning.

Alternatively, I realized a problem with tablets: since they can be rotated, how do you treat a background? Can there even be wallpapers on tablets? I ask because I don't own one myself but also know that sometimes these devices are weird on customizations.

It's not that I wouldn't mind making wallpapers for things other than computrons and lappys, but I just question if it's a worthwhile endeavor, sort of like the 5:3 ratio wallpaper size.

I think it should have it's own section--Display "Wallpapers", then "Mobile Wallpapers" on the header.

It should have its own section. The section would probably be named "Mobile Art", and it would be divided into subsections corresponding to the type of device it was designed for.

Be advised, though, that this is coming from someone who doesn't own any of those high-end devices, save for a laptop.

My vote is for its own section. I can say with 110% confidence that I won't make a mobile resolution of a wallpaper I make for a computer. The sizes are just too different for it to look the same as it did originally.

Well, the only problem you run into if you leave it in the normal wallpaper section is that you'd still have to make the wallpaper in 1024x768 size, right? And I would think that if I were going into making a wallpaper with the idea of making one shaped for a tablet/smartphone, I don't know that I would approach it with that size in mind. (Maybe I would. I don't have a tablet, and I've never bothered putting a real wallpaper on my piece of junk phone. ^^)

I think it'd be easier to make it a separate category. If not, just add a mobile resolution to the normal wallpapers, and that should work too...but then you'd have to set up a filter just to filter to only mobile options.

Seems like it'd just be easier to set up if you gave it its own section, but you all would know best :)

I agree with the majority. I think it would look better with a separate section because the resolutions of mobile wallpapers are different from desktop/laptop resolutions, and I'm imagining that the thumbnails wouldn't look so great together on the same page...

At first, I thought that it's only a matter a resolution and keep it on the same section would be enough. And we should tag "mobile" when we'll do resolutions for it. Tags are here for that, after all.
But, on the other hand, if people were looking for only mobile wallpapers, I guess it would be easier for them to have a section for it.

So, I'm in for both, I think... No preferences :)

I know I'm greatly outnumbered, but I vote for keeping it in the same section. Creating a new page might take up more space/memory/bandwidth/whatever. And I don't know if money is an issue for Adam and whomever else runs this site. 'Cause it might cost more to have a new page. I don't know how accurate my assumptions are, but those are just my thoughts.

Hmm, it might be just a different resolution, but resolution can mean much especially for mobile type sizes and wallpapers in this case.

And there are several mobile type resolutions, depending on the model that we have (Though these days that is not that much though, but still), so having them altogether would look a little bit overboard with all the resolutions there and plus changing the resolution from a bigger wallpaper to smaller can change a lot if it is too big and some artist might not like the outcome.

Even then it is possible, but separate section might be a little better idea.

I think it would be much more convenient for theO to have a separate section for Mobile wallpapers. It may also make it easier for people to find them instead of wandering through a whole bunch of regular wallpapers and filters. Also, it will give theO another section, which to me is always a good thing. :3

I'm leaning towards a seperate section. That makes it easier for people to see, at a glance, just what is there and what needs something created for it.

They should have their own section. If they were bunched into the regular wallpaper resolutions, they might get lost or forgotten about.

I don't see the problem with sticking mobile wallpapers in with the rest and adding a filter for it. It's just a format, and the difference in orientation should make wallpaper artists think creatively if they want their stuff to all mesh and be a good set. The only thing I think might be a bit touchy with people is if they want to make JUST a mobile wallpaper without any proper monitor versions to go along with it. When I make wallpapers, I already make them in sets for all the resolutions so no one's really left out (still gotta try that new resolution; haven't made a wallpaper in ages). Some people might want to be lazy and submit just the mobile size, which is kind of selfish. People already do that for the 1024x768 size and it ticks me off something fierce. All these nice, good-looking wallpapers and three of them might be the right resolution. Please do something to encourage whole sets so that all this graphic power doesn't go to waste.

A separate section would be a lot easier to have, since sorting through the normal wallpapers in search of such smaller wallpapers would be EXTREMELY frustrating after a while, and would require a lot of resizing/cropping on the makers part

I feel as though they should get their own section only because of the range in size difference. Similar to how cards are different in size to wallpapers, I think a desktop wallpaper compared with mobile wallpapers would be similar in respect to their difference in size and style approach.

due to certain aspects such as being *portrait* instead of landscape, low resolution and maybe have to work around things such as the battery bars on top they should have their own section.

I don't think mobile wallpapers necessarily need or deserve their own section...they're still just wallpapers. Could there be a filter in the existing wallpapers hub, to be able to sort resolutions?

That'd be a great thing for wallpapers, period; the ability to filter for widescreen sizes, tablet, mobile, etc.

I would put them in a separate section, just because the sizing will be a lot different from a regular sized computer's dimensions. Plus, the images we make for the wallpapers now are so large, cropping and changing them could pose to be a difficult task. I'd personally just make wallpapers for mobile.
