I agree about the popular anime have an advantage. Although there were several anime's I hadn't seen on the list, I neither abstained from the round nor did I only vote for someone because I had seen them. I tried to take everything into consideration as well as doing a bit of research on the characters. Besides, there were several characters whose shows I had seen, but didn't feel as though the character belonged there at all.

Yes, a lot of people are discrediting characters because they are "too new," but I'd guess an equal number are discrediting characters because they haven't seen any older anime.

I mean, how many remember when anime was called 'Japanimation' in the US? How many remember a time before youtube? Before 4Kids? Before Toonami? Before Adult Swim? Before even Cartoon Network?

Ranting aside, the bottom line is this is meant to be fun. Voting is always subjective, so don't panic if your fave character isn't winning. Look at it as an opportunity to check out an anime you may have overlooked.

While stuck on deciding who deserves the title in the final round, I am hoping that either Dragon Ball's Goku, Sailor Mon's Sailor Moon, or Cowboy Bebop's Spike Spiegel wins the final tournament round. Those three legends are part of the major deal of influencing the anime world as a whole, whether it's character personality, challenging difficult situations or previous beliefs, or whatsoever.

Ed vs Goku Well that is easy choice for me to choose... but now I'm worried..... what if what if Ed....loses.... </3

I've been following this competition [for lack of a better term] since it started and I'm finding it quite interesting. Not to say that I'm happy with the results - there's one that I'm minorly displeased with and one that I feel like tying up and gagging one of the competitors so he would no longer be eligible and one that I voted against but don't mind that he's still there - but the match-ups were fun and this round will be at least as interesting.

Although I was thinking about the way the voting was done, just this morning, and I realized that it has a high possibility of not being very accurate. You see: if you put person A against person B and person A wins then you put person A against person C and person C wins that would give you a different result than if person A had originally been chosen to match up against person C and person C still won, but when they were matched with person B - person B could have won. It would be a matter of person C is liked more than person A but person B is liked more than person C.

I don't know how well I explained that, but it's just an issue in the way they were matched up - whether that was random or pairing the two people that had the closest number of votes for the first round. However, I'm not sure there would be any way to remedy that. Perhaps the popularity of the character would need to be taken into consideration. It's obvious just by looking at some of the different characters wallpaper here at the Otaku that some of the match-ups were [and still are, though to a slightly lesser degree] horribly one sided.

It bothers me that people are really basing their votes on how long a show has been around. There are many other factors to consider besides just the age of the series.

I'm kind of sad some of the really important, prominent figures in anime got defeated in round one by lesser known characters, but whatever. I'm still interested to see who the ultimate winner will be, even though I'll argue that Ash Ketchum is the winner no matter what.

Okay what? L defeated Kenshin and Lelouch defeated Naruto...tsk what is our world coming too? Seriously, Kenshin should have won that if people actually KNEW his background, which I am assuming some of younger crowd doesn't and Lelouch didn't deserve it because he is new and Naruto has a worse background....people need to watch the sub for Naruto not the dub.

Well that's disappointing but whatever it's my opinion and it appears I am not the only one that shares that. Anyway, just announcing this, Goku, Spike, Ichigo, and Sailor Moon will be my votes!

Awws I wanted Kenshin to win :( I also wanted Vash to win but then again I knew he didn't have a chance against Goku lol Seby losing to Salior Moon was to be expected -_- her cute bubbly air headedness was too much for him and his newer anime coolness.....other than that everyone I wanted to win won ^^ SESSHY VS SALIOR MOON?!!! Can honestly say I'm not all that surprised by the results. Ash Ketchum was up against possibly one of the most popular characters to be created in the last 10 years, and rightfully so - not only does he grow as a human being but he also challenges the beliefs of the fellows around him and makes them yearn to be better people even if they don't succeed. Vash the Stampede had no chance against the phenomenon that is Dragonball (Z)... Kakarot was going to be the winner of that little battle from the word go. Monkey D. Luffy, well that was more of a toss-up to be honest, and had the people whom voted been a young demographic, maybe Luffy wins. Kenshin Himura and L Lawliet while difficult for me, probably didn't prove so difficult for a lot of people, Kenshin isn't quite as popular as L. Naruto Uzumaki... I think pre-Shippuden he wins that vote, but ever since some of the more ill advised portions of that story he's lost a lot of his charm as a character - and so the master of masks won. Alucard losing isn't much of a surprise to me, he's more of a manga character as his anime that is actually based off of his story isn't even finished - and the anime that is finished isn't really widely watched. Sebastian Michaelis losing wasn't much of a surprise, despite his popularity he hasn't been around long enough. Kamina losing isn't much of a surprise either in the face of the global phenomenon that is InuYasha - its been translated to and loved by so many countries that it is really a no-brainer.

Awww, poor cat obsessed demon butler didn't make it...

Ah well. I'll be pulling for L now.

Then there's everyone else. I have this image in my head of the hoards of fan-girls/boys lurking in the dark corners of the internet cheering to themselves about how their favorites made it through. As for me, I'm only surprised by like two of these results~

Arrgh, no Vash and Alucard ;_; I can't say I'm surprised, though, Goku and Ichigo are way more popular these days, DBZ has that "over 9000" meme that's still popular and Bleach will outlive me.
Don't know what to say, I'm fairly disappointed in these results, but at least Sailor Moon won. However, since she's so iconic and the results of that round were fairly predictable, that's not much.
