Firstly, very sorry to Eric - I love you but I gotta go with Ed..FMA is awesome, although some of the episodes make us want to throw ourselves off a bridge. We still love it.

Ed all the way. This is how I'm deciding...
What would Ed do in Ash's shoes? Pretty much the same things Ash has done.
What would Ash do in Ed's shoes? Probably make a bunch of noble speeches before getting himself killed.

It's Ed; no contest. I really shouldn't even have to explain why. I grew up with Ash too, that doesnt make him a better character.

I have a full debate of the two characters in my Life and Times of Y world. I tell you this now because it is way too long to put up in the comments section. Long story short, Edward is just a little bit better than Ash, despite the fact that I have watched more of the Pokemon franchise.

I used to adore FMA when I was 13 but I chose Ash because I hate Edward. And I liked the Pokemon movies :)

Even though Pokemon was the 1st anime I watched, FMA is also nostalgic for me because it and Inyuasha were the 1st non-kiddy anime I ever watched. I use to love Pokemon as a show but I never liked Ash that much, I greatly prefer Ed.

It is true that Ash is an older character, but he's also immature and not a very good influence on society... On the other hand, Edward is much more mature and encourages people to fight against oppression. All in all, Edward is the better character in my mind, but believe me, I have nothing against Ash.

I chose Ash. His character may not have much depth and he may be reincarnated each season but Pokemon was the first anime I watched and I still love the original even if the spin-offs are increasingly lame.

Ash might not be the most in-depth character, but I must admit that I've never seen FMA^^; (yet..) So I had to go with Ash:3

No contest. IMHO, only one of these characters has any kind of depth to them.

Ash is what made my childhood fun so I'm voting Ash,Sorry Ed, even if Ed had more of a storyline you HAVE to consider the age frame Pokemon was made for it's not like Ash could have a past like Ed does and the anime still be kid friendly!, even though I don't like the spin offs., and it's not like FMA doesn't have other versions that people compare to the original,Which is a waste of time because in my opinion the original is pretty much always better no big anime is pretty much immune from drawn out newer versions...

I like both animes, but Ed's attributes are more better and strong. And if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have learned all those threats I say to people when they calll me short!

I would have said Ash but once the black and white series started he reverted back to stupid....sorry but since that happened Edward got my vote

Never watched Pokemon and i never will so its gotta be ed for me.. and now that you revealed the voting method, I still say Luffy will beat spike, in my own little world that is..haha anywho GO LUFFY!! Im just glad that if Luffy does lose that it will be to a badass such as Spike and not one of the lamer characters on here..not that there are many but i do see a few and that's totally just my personal opinion.. =P

Edward all the way. The things he's had to go through, how well he handles it, his determination, how much he cares for his brother, what he's willing to do for him, just everything about him. He's definitely one of, if not the best anime character that there's ever been!

I voted Edward, his story is much more in-depth and really connects with me.

Not to mention he's just awesome, which is a plus.

This would be harder for me to consider if we were going by Ash's Pokemon Special counterpart, Red.

Edward wins. Ash was wonderful character and told us a lot of lessons about teamwork and friendship. However, the story surrounding Edward is much deeper. Part of that is the audience but I don't think Ash has the strength for Edward has. Edward's story is full of grey characters and probes into our minds. Edward himself struggles inside with a lot of what he sees on his journey; I don't remember seeing that same struggle with Ash.

Question: When you say "midnight ET on Monday", do you mean the minute after 11:59pm in Sunday or the minute after 11:59pm in Monday?

I had to pick Ed. Ed really matures and changes a lot, and Ash... well, yes, I did love Pokemon as a kid and more than likely thought of Ash as my hero xD Ash, however, isn't really as genuine as Shorty D:

I voted Ash, he might be silly at times, but he knows his stuff :P

This was easy and obvious: it's Ed. He's a real character, more of a genuine person than Ash, who is just part of a marketing scheme to sell a card game.

Gotta' say Ash, he's a fond memory of my childhood. <3
