Sorry to be a buzzkill, but they're not playing Crystal: only Red, Blue, Gold, and Silver.
I did it as a joke of sorts. ^^;
Also, I thought that the graphical updates were amazing. I hadn't played Diamond or Pearl so going from Sapphire to HeartGold for me was what won me back into the series.
i spent the money on soul silver and played it once. what a waste of money. it is not that it wasn't well made... it's just... i think i liked it better when it was pixally and archain.
i didnt say i was a logical person.
yeah, i do not plan to buy black or white, i wasted 40 dollars on soul silver!!! (i would love to play a 3ds though)
I asked one of the guys who's gonna take part in the marathon and that is how they're gonna do it. They're typically against using glitches or ROMs of a game if it can be avoided.
There's one technique that involves setting up a Sneasel with a very precise moveset and then placing it in the box and turning off the game midway through saving. It requires absolute perfect timing, if I recall, and doing it wrong could lose them all their progress.
Personally, I would recommend they stick with hacking it into a wild encounter. Less risk, more reward.

So I presume they'll be using the infamous Mew Glitch, since that's the only way to get Mew, but as far as I know there's only one very, very obscure and precise way to obtain Celebi. Is there some other way they plan to solve that which I don't know about?
