NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! When will they ever learn! NEVER EVER EVER LET AMERICAN FILM COMPANIES REMAKE ANIME INTO LIVE ACTION Our companies just screw them up and ruin the original story. For example Dragon Ball and Speed Racer. On top of it all, they're messing with a classic anime. There's just some things you never do. The japanese on the other hand seem to do a good job doing live action versions of anime, like Death Note, Nana, and Honey and Clover. I can only hope they come to their sences.
Well, from what I know of Akira, it's mostly all bloody and violent, full of people with insane superpowers, and has little relevant dialogue; who in Hollywood wouldn't wanna do this one?
Since Sci-Fi movies that combine action with thriller themes seem to be a popular trend with moviegoers in North America, I am sure the live-action "Akira" will appeal to the mainstream viewers the same way the "Akira" Anime did long ago, even though the new movie will start a new continuity. Although I never have seen "Book of Eli", I have faith in the directors of the project, and I pray for their success.
I sincerely hope that they do stay faithful to the manga and do Akira some justice, because, if they do, it will be a movie of mind shattering awesomeness.
.....I am going to pray Hollywood doesn't mess this one up. I will not say from the get-go that it will be horrible, I will simply pray that it won't be.
Game over man! GAME OVER! Another manga/anime adaptation that will soon become another failure. Hollywood only makes people who don't read manga or watch anime hate it even more. If they do succeed in making a successful recreation, I may forgive them.
