You know, I've noticed that most of the time someone makes a movie and updates the setting or westernizes it somehow in the US, people tend to gripe at first, but when a Japanese studio tries to make a story more relatable to the Japanese audience, it doesn't cause quite as much backlash. Maybe I'm just overanalyzing it, though. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this one. I remember the original book and it does seem like it's right up Ghibli's alley.
Then again, Westernization is responsible for Dragonball: Evolution....
This sounds pretty cool. I will admit that I was a little disappointed with Ponyo especially after the amazing Howl's and Spirited Away movies. But this seems like it could have some real potential. Especially since, from the picture, the art looks really good.
From what I remember of this story, it's definitely a Ghibili-ish plot that probably will do well and once again interest kids in stories that are actual stories and not a load of tripe some bored lady decides to dump on the public.

I love the Borrowers!! The Littles TV series was also a favorite of mine when I was younger. I'm sure Ghibli will make another classic movie
