Chapter 9

When I got to Lawliet’s house it was not what I expected at all. It was actually quite small, a two story house which was white and the roof black, along with the sides of the window’s. Lawliet must have seen my surprise because he smiled and said, “Expecting something else?” For some reason I had expected a much bigger house, with more extravagance to it. I was wrong.

The inside was just as plain, with a normal living room, a red couch and a few chairs placed in front of a wide-screen T.V. The kitchen was painted a blood red and had the normal counters and cupboards along with the fridge, stove and dishwasher packed together. The dining room had pretty paintings scattered along the walls and a dark-chocolate color to the dinging table and chairs. The bathroom had white and blue tiles for the floor and a shower tucked in the corner with the toilet and sink beside each other. The bedrooms where nice, with the walls painted an almond brown and the beds beside a long window.

I sighed and plopped onto my bed that Lawliet had shown me and went into a badly needed sleep. I woke up the birds chirping and the sunlight pouring onto me. It took me a few seconds to remember where I was. “Oh that’s right! I’m at Lawliet’s house,” I thought to myself. I pulled the blankets off of me and went downstairs.

Lawliet sat on the couch watching a show and eating a bowl of cereal. He turned as he saw me, a smile playing along his lips. “Up, sleepy-head?” he said. As if to prove his point I yawned. “Thanks for letting me stay over Lawliet,” I said groggily. I plunked beside him.

“What are you watching?” I asked. “I don’t mind the murder mysteries on.” Lawliet said, which I guessed meant he was watching a murder mystery. I found the cereal and got myself some. “So what are we going to do today?” I asked. Lawliet shrugged. The day dragged on, and I felt myself becoming more bored.

“Oh. Do you have any clothes I could change into?” I said, noticing the grubby feeling I had with my tear-stained clothes. “Hmm.” Lawliet got up and searched the house. He came back with a beautiful sun dress that was yellow and had branches decorated with cherry blossoms stretching out on the sides. “Oh! It’s so pretty!” I exclaimed. I went to the bathroom to get changed and, when I came out Lawliet had the biggest smile I’d ever seen. “You look lovely,” he said. I felt the heat rise to my cheeks and looked down. “Let’s go to the beach!” Lawliet said happily. “Sure, if it makes you happy.” I agreed.
