That's really sad :( I look at it this way: if your art is liked by at least one person, then you've accomplished something (even if that one person is yourself). You never know who's going to like your work.
So that sucks that they'd delete this huge thing they've been working on, especially because they don't like it. Sheesh.
Yes, we probably have all been there. There was one person on deviantart that I really liked the art of and every day I would look at their art for inspiration, then one day they deleted all their stuff and I asked them why and they said 'I don't know!!'...I still find that to be hilarious! XD
But I understand deleting stuff 'cause you yourself are tired of looking at it, but it inspires other people in some way.

That's why I always make sure that mine are finished. I keep them updated somewhat.
