Yesterday I bought refills for my copics (I've got literally four of them) and it was so expensive... Today I tried to use only those four colors to make something just to convince myself I didn't make a mistake spending all those money on ink. The palette is quite bad, but I've tried to make it work with a moray eel mermaid for Mermay (I won't do more, one is more than enough).

I love moray eels, they're so chunky, and tubular and fat, they're slick but at the same time.. lumpy? That reminded me of cellulite and i wanted to do a big lumpy mermaid because I'd like to draw more diverse body types and fat bodies are beautiful like all the others. While usually I'm very methodical when I draw, before starting I know perfectly what I want to draw and what materials to use, here I went very experimental, I used a wash of watercolor to make the character looking under water, and other stuff. I'm not sure if it's successful. Since I used only the four colors everything blends a lot and the figures gets confused and aren't very clear. It's been a while since I last draw something and the anatomy is questionable too.

That being said I think morays are cute and this mermaid is adorable too, and I'm happy I didn't give them stupid boobs because mermaids are not mammals! Booby mermaids are nonsense! And hair too! They'll get stuck on corals and stuff! Let's draw ugly fishy mermaids! And fat bodies!

(I still regret buying the inks in the end)
