In fact I made this same draw before and I coloured with waterclors but it was horrible, since the colors were very dark and it was a mess, so I redone it in watercolors pencils and I was much more happier with the result so yeah I'm happy of this draw! ^^
This is an adorable couple and I like the masks. Very unique. The fact you chose bright colors for the masks a everything-else is held quite dark makes them stand out even more. The parts you´re not satisfied with are not visible to me so I think there´s nothing to worry about.

Uhm well I have to admit that is just some months that I started using watercolors, and I'm not very good using them, I should practice more, I have no idea how to improve with watercolors... but I used some "Oxford" paper and I think it's not good for watecolors, I usually use "fabriano" paper, it's better I guess...
Aaah, this came out really cool! *3* The detail you added to the plague doctor mask is so fancy~ ;o
Sorry to hear the watercoloring didn't work out. This coloring here came out pretty too, though. :) Are you using watercolor paper btw? :o
