I use soft overlay for shadows and also sometimes turn down opacity. I blur the shadows to make them blend better. color layer is also nice because it will not change the black so my lines stay and I'm able to change colors at will.
Oh, this is pretty~ :D I like how you draw profiles, the nose and mouth look very cute~ The texture in the hair has a neat effect on the drawing, as well! :) Good luck in the challenge~
This is very nicely done with colored pencils!! I love side profiles (because i'm so bad I always admire great ones!) and the colors are great!And of course the eye... can I just say how beautiful and soft it is (: the shading on that is great too. Thanks for entering my challenge!!

It was pretty slow going. I just colored really soft and in little circle motions. Also in photo shop i used a color layer and smoothed things too.
