I understand now..... It brings me back when I did contests and well...... UGH! but anyways I can understand why now you just used mainly red, I was thinking of that too, but I just thought of blue but then again you can use the blue for shadows and dark areas for the red instead of black. I was told my teacher that in painting we shouldn't use black at all really. You are right blue is used a lot for these types of paintings, I only said blue because of her pose, maybe she was in a different pose? I am just throwing out ideas and just trying to help so the painting comes together >.< But I still love it and the fact that you used oil it just makes it more beautiful. and I love giving comments like this! I just second guess myself doing these comments because some people don't like it. (it has happen to me before). But it makes me happy that you like it :)

lol oh really? I used more acrylics this year. Hopefully I won't mess up too much. I almost started an oil painting but my art teacher forgot about the project and I never got to do it.

I love the painterly look of this! The colors blend really well too. :)

it's still drying i thinks haha- some oil paintings take a year to dry all the way through! but i did really enjoy painting this one ;D As far as the red goes, I was trying to go for a more monochromatic piece, i mean there is blue and yellow in there but i really loved the red. even though it's a sad pic i wanted red over blue because blue is too overly used in these situations. Instead of having the audience feel sympathetic for her necessarily, i wanted it to suggest self destruction or revenge. Blue just wouldn't capture the grungy mood i was going for it's too delicate :D but thanks a thousand for the comment! o_o i love this sort of constructive feedback! >:3

thanks! :3 it's worth trying out for sure- it's not my fav medium but just be forewarned that once you do oils for a while it's really hard to to switch back to acrylics. they're just so different! o_o

I think this is a great painting (don't doubt yourself winning! just have fun with the contest who knows you might even win! trust me i know this lol) I love how think you made the oil paint thick! that must of took a long time to dry. Really you did a wonderful job with using the color to express more loudly with the emotion that you are expressing in this piece. I wish there was more blues too besides the red just dominating since it is a good bye text I can feel that blue would bring more of the sadness and red more of the anger. And by the way you put her into that pose she seems more sad. (does that make sense?) but overall very wonderful painting especially with oils! :)

Ooh, I love this! I really want to learn how to oil paint. I'll make sure my teacher teaches it this year.
