yeah i sketched it in pencil and used watercolors on top- practice makes perfect i guess. :3 i used to really hate watercolors because they were impossible too but after working with long bleed range markers they're much easier to work with.
-tiny brushes help too haha >:3
WOW. THAT BACKGROUND IS JUST AMAZING. I can't tell what you used to draw this.....pencil? paint? watercolor? (dang, if this was done with watercolor.....:O I can never control the water when I use it, lol)

thankyou! yeah watercolors are fun once you figure them out :3 it takes a bit but there are definitely tricks to it 6,6
