yeah H and HB pencils werent dark enough for me so i didnt bother using them because i knew that this piece would be dark. for the shadow i used and made many layers of 3B, 4B and 6B.

I'm surprised you didn't use a H or HB pencil. Did you use the graphic pencils for the darkest part or was that 6B? I love the shadows in this piece which hides part of his face. Great detail! :D

thanks! i think that i kind of mess up on the hat though cuz i didn't really try to make it look right, the details were tough though. oh, i liked the teeth too. one of my art classmates told me that when drawing teeth, you draw in the shades that form them not the lines. so i did that and it worked :D you should try it too. :)for the paper i used bristol smooth paper and for the shading i used 3B then 4B and then finished it with 6B, yeah in layers. afterward i took a blending stump (aka tortillon)and blended the black background.
:O i totally forgot to add that i made the piece a bit darker by putting the mode on my camera black and white..but yeah i really should go and get an 8B pencil too, to help with my drawings :D
