There is definitely a time and place for a ruler - but, you certainly don't need to use them automatically! Maybe I'm just too impatient with rulers. I could never be an architect. If I was going to draw buildings, I would definitely use them. Other than that - probably not!

Hahaha, fantastic! Great job with the perspective on that pencil, it's really difficult to pull that sort of thing off - I certainly struggle with it.
