ouch, can't go back? wow. Well, if I where you I'd just try it over and over again, you will still get exp. points which will make you level up and possibly become stronger. Once When I was playing PMD blue, I was playing as Chikorita The grass type pokemon and I kept losing to either moltres or fire type pokemon when I got to Mt. Blaze. I actually got though once I tried it over 20 times. I regret forgetting my weakining stats kind of moves (Growel, Tail Whip ect.).
Then came Articuno... Sigh, good times...
