I started playing ffvii XD the system is a bit simpler now, maybe cuz I'm not that far into the game... well also the battles are less... frustrating (?) sometimes cuz you don't have to worry about drawing magic and just hit (though you still want to steal but it seems bosses never have anything to steal)
so how is ffx-2 different from the other ff games?
the graphics on ps2 are way smoother it seems
Yeah, I liked 10 since before it became widely popular. (It was the first PS2 game I played, and it is sort of a symbol for the PS2 for me.) As for the best battle system, I really liked the junctioning in 8. 10 has a neat system too, though 10-2 made that system better because you can attack faster and make combos with your party members. BUT 10-2 was not a good FF game. I liked it, but not as a part of the FF franchise. In other words, if it weren't a FF game, then it would be pretty great. :/ It's also not a good game if you don't like the Tidus and Yuna pairing.

I have yet to try 7 and 10 though they are the most popular (?) From the fmvs, I didn't like Yuna and Tidus much...
Still, I should play 7
btw, which game had the best battle system? junctioning was pretty cool in 8, though GF animations were so lengthy

Rinoa!! FFVIII was the first FF game I bought as a kid and I love it. Other than that, 7 and 10 are my favorites.
