As I've said in my description at the bottom of the picture: it took 2 weeks and I didn't win the contest. The contest btw, has been over for several months now.
Ooh nice! I'm loving the composition, the fierce expressions and the coloring! Especially the ground, grass, rocks and mountains. Man the grass is so detailed and with the lighting.. amazing. You've improved! This must've taken so long to finish. Love to hear how the contest went for you when it ends! Good luck! ;D

Ugh I know who it feels to work on a picture for 2 weeks for a contest (I didn't win either). But the results are always good and this is no different!
I love the painted look, the characters poses, and expressions. :D
Actually the background is two separate places, with the girl's starting area in the game to the left and the boy's area to the right.
Apprently when you play the game, you start out at opposite ends of Japan, each one heading towards the other's way, though I don't know enough about the game to know if they where heading into each other's towns/areas or not but I did think that blending the two together into one solid background was a nice gesture for both characters

This is really well done. I very much like the background of the grassy fields and mountains, they have amazing detail. I like the time of day switch on both sides too, you did the lighting great on the grass! =D
Thanks! Turns out one of the major reasons why I didn't win was because they where grading artstyle too and they where looking for artists interpretation of the characters, which I was closer to the original style, so I likely lost points on that.
From what I understood a lot of people didn't like the winner of the contest, but oh well. that's how it goes!

Well, you did a pretty good job considering that I have never played this game, but could immediately tell it what it was before I clicked on it!
I really like yours compared to some others that were on the site...O.O
