use solid brush and blur to have that effect.. just make sure u make the brush size bigger and the opacity lower to capture the effect.. *^^* overlaying or other layer options could also help make it look better..

Oh my that IS amazing!! Looks at those colours! And the way that you've done your sky and clouds! So light and airy yet dreamy... Wounderful wounderful!
I can't place where that might be, era wise at least. But to mee it looks like a spring. Like a natrual hot spring you might find. Only in the sky. The water is very steamy making the clouds form like that. And its almost the end of dawn, and the sun is well risen above the mounatins, but you can still see some stars out. And the spring itsself floats in the air. And the water pours off at the end of the long bathing area, wher ethe gate is and downward back onto earth. Like a spa for the Gods almost. And the laterns conrast well becuase its very moderns japanese yet simple and still keeping with the triditional building. And its wintre. The seanson is wintre. And the girl is the first one there so early in the morning. She might have been there since night.
Anyway thats what your image reminds me of. I can't quite place it to anything earthy. Sorry If I went on and on to much!
that'd be a very modern japanese style column.. most japanese columns are wood and their lanterns are mostly paper too.. but gaah.. i should've went for the japanese look.. lol........ XD
O new picture,it really looks so well detailed.Since I finsihed exams I have free time now and I'm dieing to try a background like that one.You are not gona belive me but when I first saw this one I couldn't tell it was yours :3.
