thank you! I actuall really like how the hair turned out, I was going for that effect, thank you for pointing it out.

THe eyelashes are part of a style I was doing just recently and just thought I would use that since I really like it.

I do want to redraw it a bit and get her torso proportion somewhat realistic haha, thats why her arm looks so long is because her torso is too short.

I am really glad for all these critiques, I feel a bit put off with some of it...but am realizing that I do need it. thank you

first for the hair, I did look up some techniques and some people said it could go either way, under if you really wanna show the eye, or over if you want it hidden.

I actually just did three layers, one dark shading, one medium shading, and one light shade, then used the same gaussian blur setting for each color...you might wanna play around with blur settings though for each part, like I didnt use the same blur setting for her skin and her shirt.

So, I think this picture is lovely, I'll just put a few things about it that I think look a little off (there aren't many, though.)

• 1st off; the hand. It looks little too small and some of the fingers are misshaped.
• 2ndly: her eyes look slightly off. The left eye looks as though it should be partly covered with hair, 'cause you have black underneath it, I suppose that it could be a tattoo, but I don't think that's what you meant it to be.
• Last of all; the right ear. I don't think it should be visible, maybe I'm wrong on that one, but it just gives her a slightly monkey eared look. But that could just be me. xD

Now, what I like about it.

• 1st off, the coloring. OMG IT'S SO GOOD! I can never seem to get soft shading look right, so I'm green with envy!
• 2ndly; the pose. It's always hard to get poses like that; for me at least, so the fact that it looks so good is really something I love. <3
• 3rd; her FACE. WOW. Talk about adorable! >////<
• last of all, the whole composition of this drawing. It's really nicely put together and it looks like it could actually be a manga cover, so I think you achieved what you were going for. It's really something. :D

I like this picture, but I don't think you should use it as your cover. I think it would be better if you came up with an original pose. ;) Also, the eyelashes are a little too stiff. You should curve them sligtly.
But otherwise, I think it's a great picture. ^^ I really like the hand, for some reason. xD And I like the coloring on the legs too. ;D

when you say that youre just starting out with realism, are you saying that this one is suppose to be semi realism?

if not, theennn, there's only a few minor details i wanna point out

cuz you know how i think she's so pretty and i'm so envious of her T_T

you see the right eye? and now you can see the entire eyeball even though it's suppse to be behind the hair?
it's like there's a piece of hair that's growing out from under the eyes lol
so, a way to er.. make it more realistic is to add a few strands of hair OVER the eyes, and make sure that there isnt random hair strands appear from the middle of nowhere XD
but yes, that would mean that part of the eyeball would be blocked by hair
so if you want to show off the entire eye, then just make sure there's no hair falling over it

and yeah

OOOOOOH I can actually imagine this being a real story with the animation looking like that. The style actually reminds me of Korean animation. There's just that shoujo style of the eyes that does it for me
