Well if u wnt to make a color to be light u add more water,
For layer u should wait till the first layer is dry,be careful tht wet paint color isnt the same as whn its dry..
also do the skin first i think its easier for me, i mix lil purple wth pink and yellow ^^
And if ur using normal paper u should tape it down so it wont wrinkle as much,
