I think the lighting in his hair is a very nice touch! I just wish that you had a much better alignment with the shoulders and the hand. Now I think you are trying to make his hand seem closer, but the way the arm is positioned doesn't quite make it look that way.
I think the contrast is pretty nice! And you have a nice eye for lighting, now it's just time to work on shadows.
