Hokage status is guaranteed by the end of the series, I can promise you that. All I'm saying is that the military system Naruto is stupid when it comes to upgrading ranks and that he should be promoted for his work in the field.

The fact that Naruto has remained a genin the entire series has pissed me off to no end.

In most known military systems (and all known SUCCESSFUL military systems) your superiors can arbitrarily increase your rank for kicking an exceptionally large amount of ass on the field. Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Shaka Zulu....anyone who had an army with ranks in it could promote the lowliest member to whatever the hell they wanted.

In such a system, Tsunade could've promoted anyone involved in the Saskue Retrieval arc, and you can bet your ass she would've. But NOOOOOOOOOO, chunin have have to take special tests, [/sarcasm] you could never be promoted by being awesome! Your rank wouldn't be proportionate to your awesomeness! It would never work! [/sarcasm]
