You sure can do more stuff with Photoshop than I can! You didn't "destroy" Deidara (his hair looks perfectly fine to me), but there are a few things that can be improved.
The first thing that really stuck me as "off" was his head. It looks a bit too small for his body. The other thing is his eye, but I can't quite tell how to fix it because I don't have a picture of him in front of me. My advice is to look at screen shots and stuff for references.
Still, I commend you. I'm trying to draw Deidara in a little fan comic, and I must say, he's tough to draw. Especially from memory.

I don't think that you destroyed Deidara. You just added your own uniqu style to him. Not many people can exactly replicate another person's style.
I know why you had an urge to draw Deidara... because he da SMEX, that's why! X3
