I totally understand that. I've been writing a story myself for... 4 years now (wow I hadn't realised it had been that long!) and I don't want to post it on the internet in case I want to publish it some day. Even though I think that would be a good way to motivate me to get it done faster. So don't worry. When you get your story published just let me know and I will run out and buy it! :D
