I never met your hamster (of course) but this picture makes me think of my dog who was a total sweetheart. He died years ago, but he died young-- only seven years old (not in dog years).
Anyway, I'm certain that your hamster had a happy life. It's sad to lose a pet, but he'll always be alive in your memories.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

When things like this happen...
I know how you feel, I lost my cat and still miss him... I hope your hamster is happy wherever he is now.
