Well, Vincent used to be a bodyguard for Sephiroth's Mother, a scientist named Lucretia Crescent. Vincent was the bodyguard for another scientist with the name of Hojo...
Well, yada yada and so Vincent fell in love with Lucretia, and Lucretia wanted to do an experiment with a human child. Well, Hojo the evil scientist wanted to use Lucretia's child. Thus Sephiroth was born and Vincent was gut shot and locked in a coffin for 30 years...poor guy...

But, this is really funny, in Advent Children, Vincent is 60-something years old!! HAHAH
