You asked if I used reference for my pictures. It depends on a fan art. Most of the time I have an idea in my head, so I make a sketch and then I take a look at some screenshots to see details on the characters, so that I can complete them as they are. In some of my fan art I combined poses of the characters from various screenshots or wallpapers. There are few pictures that are drawn as a complete reproduction of some scene from the series. When I do the reproduction I often add a small change. (I do this because when I first made "Calming a Demon - Colored" fan art, it was so similar to the original screenshot that it didn't pass the check. I was very disappointed. So, I first posted a non-colored version, and then posted a version with a changed background color. I was glad when it appeared in my fan art section.) When I do an original anime, it's always done completely from my head (like my avatar, for example).
