Just a Myth?

Chapter 1: Mother...

-Dante-

“Dante dear it is time to go.” My mom called in her soft southing voice as I was playing in the woods.

“But my ball, mama may I get my ball please?” I asked looking back at her with sad eyes.

Her long Magenta hair softly blowing in the light breeze that was moving through the forest. Her green eyes looked down at me and with a light sigh and a smile “Go get your ball, then we must head home.” She said.

I smiled brightly and ran back to where I last saw my ball. I was rummaging through the bushes I found my ball. I was about to grab it when something else grabbed the ball.

“A ball?” It was a kid. Well I can’t really say much I’m a kid too, but that was my ball.

I backed up a little and then jumped out of the bushes and pounced on the kid that had my ball. A small squeak came out of the kid as we hit the ground and I had him pinned.

“That is my ball.” I growled at him. He looked frightened at me and I could feel him shaking under my grip. I softened my face and got up off of him and got my ball.

He was still laying there when I picked up my ball. I felt bad so I went back to him and helped him up. “I’m sorry about knocking you down.” I apologized. We were the same height so it was easy to keep eye contact with him.

“H-hello.” He stuttered out. “I-I didn’t know that was your ball. I’m sorry.” He fidgeted a little bit.

“What is your name?” I asked tilting my head to the right looking at him and twitching me ears a little bit.

“It’s Antiman. What’s yours?” He asked me.

“My name is Dante. It is nice to meet you.” I smiled wide and closed my eyes happily.

“Ears…” He muttered and before I could move he had a hold of my ears.

“Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. Let go!” I said and pulled back away from him and stumbled back and landed on my butt. “That hurt.” I muttered with tears forming at the corner of my eyes as I rubbed my ears.

“What are you?” Antiman asked and I looked over at him.

“I am a fethair. What are you?” I questioned back.

“I’m a human.” He laughed a little like I was stupid.

I puffed out my cheeks and looked away from him. “Dante…” I heard my mother call and I instantly stood up.

“I have to go.” I said and picked up my ball.

“Wait, can we be friends?” Antiman asked and I tilted my head.

“If you promise not to tell anyone we can be.” I answered.

“Dante we need to leave.” I mom called again.

“Coming mama!” I shouted and started back into the bushes with my ball. “Bye.” I said a little lower before disappearing into the woods once again.

~*90 Years Later*~

“Mother I’m back.” I called as I ran up to our house. When I moved back the curtain to our house my eyes widened. The place was a mess. Glass broken on the floor pots smashed the place looked like it was ransacked. I know that we lived on the edge of our little village but, who would do this…

I ran right into the woods to search for my mother. This can’t be happening. Not to my mother…who took her? Where are they going? What are they going to do to her? I couldn’t tell what the sent was when I came back home. It wasn’t another Fethair that’s for sure. But who would want a fethair? We didn’t want anything to do with anyone. And it’s not like we can mate with anyone other then our own species.

Wait I can’t jump to conclusions. I need to clear my head and find her. Worrying like this was going to get my nowhere. With only a few years of sword training under my belt if it was someone who had a sword I wasn’t going to be that much of a match for them, but I had to try if the fact that my mother was captured it the case.

I jumped into a ravine and slid down the side of the hill that’s when I caught my mother’s sent along with another sent. I jumped over the creek and sprinted up the hill. The sent was much stronger up on the top of the hill. I turned to head in the direction of the wind when I heard a small clicking sound. I turned around to scan the area of where the sounds came from and then *BANG* I shot rang in the air and a sharp pain ripped through my shoulder.

I stumbled back and grabbed a hold of my left shoulder. I could feel my blood filling up the palm of my hand and slipping down my back. I was having a hard time catching my breath. I had to get out of there. I had to take off to the sky. Who ever was shooting me wouldn’t be able to hit me if I got above the tree tops. I brought out my wings and just pushed up off the ground when *BANG* another shot rang off and a felt the same pain going through my left leg.

I didn’t have time to look down to see how bad my leg was. I cut myself up a little as I speed up through the branches of a tree to get up past the treetops. With the trees now fully in bloom I couldn’t see past the leaves so I had to try later. For now I need to get away from here and find a safer place to land.

I think I was about five ten minuets into my flight when my vision started to blur. I shook my head trying to clear it and blink, but nothing was helping. I was bleeding too much to keep this up. I had to land. I flew just a bit further and I couldn’t focus anymore and my wings ended up failing on me and I started falling back towards the earth. I crashed through the trees making a loud noise as branches broke under me. Some how I managed to get my legs back under me and I did a tumble roll then just ended up rolling to a stops.

I could hear my heard pounding my head as I could see blotches of my blood on the ground.

A muffled “Hey…” was the last thing I heard with two figures running towards me before I fell asleep.
