How come I don't have "blend mode"? I only have "mode" and it doesn't include "addition"!!!!
Otaku Legend | Posted 05/21/13 | Reply
Hmm, this is interesting. I always scan in black and white mode... Thanks for the tip...

Great guide, thanks for making it! One question: how do you make lines end at a sharp point? When I draw the lines, they end in a round and blunt end. Many thanks!

I have PS and a mac. Do you think buying SAI would be worth it if I had to also buy crossovers or bootcamp? I've heard It's much better for lineart and general coloring, but the entire thing comes across as a bit pricey...
Otaku Eternal | Posted 07/13/11 | Reply
Great Turtorial. I love it and it helps me use Sai better,
But I got up to the Hair Coloring 2. Where u have to shade, and the brush I have is messed up. It doesn't workwith the settings you have it as. Like if the hair was blue, and I'm tring to shade and have a darker blue set up, when I use brush it doesn't do anything. ;A; do you know how I can fix it?
Otakuite+ | Posted 03/07/11 | Reply
Thank you so much for the tutorial *A*
It has already helped me a lot ((:
Your art work is very beautiful*
Otakuite++ | Posted 02/26/11 | Reply
Is there a site where I can find Sai for free?
Otaku Legend | Posted 08/26/10 | Reply
Oh really ;n; the precise never selects what i want orz xDD
but yeah, whichever goes ;u;
Otakuite | Posted 08/22/10 | Reply
oh yeah, you know how you said the selection tool leaves tiny pixels along th edges behind? well you can prevent that by checking 'Precise' under wand tool options instead of the default 'colour difference'
But then again I prefer using brush and eraser just because I'm more familiar with it.
Also I think the precise option might only work on line work layers...
Born on Christmas eve? Awweesommee ^^
Ur a great artist Lulu! Ive always wondered how you colour :3 thanks for posting!

*stares wishfully into the sky* mabye one day i can colour like you...
im glad you continued the manual!
me so far-
the only digital art i've submitted is my avatar (at the moment) and my "a boy named 'alice" cover...
i will try my best!
hope this screenshot i took helps:
WHERE THE RED CIRCLE IS~
just click on multiply :D
ahh sorry xD
meh. my typing is always >___> yeah..
D; i would like to make the pictures bigger~ but most times i like to keep everything on one page? i dunno it just seems more organised like that. instead if it dragging on for ages
>W< but yeah ill take it into account :D
ohh~ that might just be, getting used to colour picking for your personal preference? >W< i was like that at first, but then it goes through practice i think :D
Otaku Eternal | Posted 12/13/09 | Reply
This is AWESOME. I am so poor at making cg art. I really could use this.
-hugs and fave-
THIS IS THE COOLEST TUTORIAL EVA!!
lol Seriously it looks so awesome. >:3
Man I wanna color like this! I'm going to try and use these tips. Hopefully I'll be able to improve my coloring.
13th Angel (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 12/13/09 | Reply
The funny thing is, I already do all this stuff you are showing me D: I can't seem to get the color as nice as you though! D8<
I think it might be because I have Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop has a different sort of "texture" in it, that makes the colors less soft compared to SAI.
I'm thinking that the whole issue is that I need to use SAI instead xD
Tea pixie (Otaku Eternal) | Posted 12/13/09 | Reply
This is a nifty tutorial, very nice indeed ^^ I've tried doing similar things with GIMP, but i'm not all that good yet, plus my lineart is cruddy, haha.
Otaku Legend | Posted 11/25/09 | Reply
it just takes practice ;ww;
you'll get used to it soon.
or just do the way you feel suits you best.
there is not set rule for Digital art.
Only the outcome says it all ;ww;
;w; a tablet is just a "mouse" but designed like a pen so you can use it easier.
at times i draw the lineart on the computer.
other times i scan in my drawings with a Scanner (dont use a camera ever!!)
you can tell the difference usually in my art.
since scanned lines are less neat ;ww;
Otakuite++ | Posted 11/24/09 | Reply
Uh sorry, can we draw your art by hand with just a normal piece of paper and then just picture your art then download it to your tablet? Because I'm not very good on drawing stuff on computers very sloppy nyaa~
I also Have a question did you draw the art i the tablet or you did it by had with normal paper? If you did do it in normal paper did you took a picture of you art and download it to your tablet and then you start doing the color and stuff nyaa~ Sorry I'm asking alot of questions... But just to be sure becuz I'm having my b-day soon.. I want to have it!
Otakuite++ | Posted 11/23/09 | Reply
Arigato!!!! Demo, I won't be needing this because my stupid Odo-san won't buy me it. So I'm just gonna stay with my own art skills... I will be submitting my art on December please support Lulu-chan!

i always wonder how you do sure Awesome-o artwork X3
Otaku Legend | Posted 08/10/09 | Reply
xDD lol thank you~~
glad to be of help
yep, or it could be your program that isnt recognising your tablet correctly.
I would say, you just have to try them out and see which one you prefer.
i don't know what to recommend right now, since i havent seen how you draw with a tablet xDD
i find method 3 the best (which i have yet to upload xD)
Senior Otaku | Posted 08/10/09 | Reply
Okay so...would you recommed if to draw the lineart by hand or just scan it lightly so the color goes over easier? I´m still lost about those...and ack! I own none of the things you need!! ...except for the music part...wah!
I´m already falling behind, ha ha ha!
Yah...I actually had to go find software for my wacom one! O_O It was frustrating cause I had one before it that was pressurized and I knew it was supposed to be...
I was just wondering cause most of your lineart is very thin!
thanks for answering my question!
Otaku Eternal | Posted 08/10/09 | Reply
This is awesome! Just what I was looking for!! You always come through for us lulu! :D
yes, a tablet is always presurrized (i think, well wacom brand ones are) if not you need to reinstall it, or reboot your computer~
thanks for the tutorial, I love your cg coloring and digital coloring is something I've been trying to figure out. I will ask this, if you digitally do lineart (which I assume you do as well from "line art 2") is your tablet pressurized?
ohoho crap scanner haters united LOL
hehe your welcome
:D uhuhu~ thank god music exisits LOL
Otakuite+ | Posted 08/10/09 | Reply

Otaku Legend | Posted 08/09/09 | Reply
oho accepted LOL xDD
and this is my frist time doing a tutorial xDD
haha yeah it is really confusing
>W< you should just buy one. you can find them in "computer shops" LOL
o thats fine then. all the art programs have the same functions but some of them are just named differently and diferently placed
The music part is o true! I use photoshop and will end with over 15 layers per drawing! AND it takes for EVER!!!! This is awsome! I like how you are listing the materials needed for the tutorial Amazing cover by the way!
- Gero Chan
Whoah.. Nice idea.. ^^ Since you're so good at this, I want to be one of your students sensei!! X3 *waves raised hand* Thanks a lot!
