Birth of a Zealot

PART TWO

The Terran fortress was one of few errected on Na Pali. In recent months, a rouge skaarj faction known as The Taidaris had been causing chaos,

creating a new 3-way warzone. The warriors of the Taidaris were more powerful, and entire fortified Nali Towns had been anihalated by single Warbrands

in the past. The Officer hefted his Combat Assault Rifle. The new Masters Edition was the newest version of the popular rifle series. It was lighter and

more compact, and the Explosive Bullet function of the older version had been replaced by a new Grenade Launching function. Along with the rifles, the

Troopers also recieved a Standard-Issue Enforcer Sidearm, a Translocator transportation device, and a Megaton Bomb Decoder. Several vehicles had

been dispatched to the base as well, including Hover Cars. The NEG had spared no expense in cleansing the Intergalactic Blackspot of hostile forces.

The Officer glanced around, and stopped. There was a sound from beyond the perimiter wall. As he approached, he identified the sound as a rapid

scratching and cracking, then a fist erupted through the wall. The Officer leapt back, as a force of ten Zealots tore through the wall. Troopers began

running from various buildings. The officer relaxed-these were not the large golden Warbrands that destroyed entire cities. They outnumbered the

Taidaris 10 to one... Or at least that's what he thought. One of them shot forward at an impossible speed, slashing and hacking. Within seconds the

Zealot had taken out several troopers as it passed by, the vicious razors on its wrists hacking through the Steel-Reinforced Kevlar Armor worn by the

Terran Military. The creatures were unstoppable. The Commander called out from the main fortress. "RETREAT! RETREAT!" and the soldiers began to

flee back. Then the Skaarj did something terrifying. Most Skaarj fire energy based projectiles from wrist implants. These Skaarj did something

altogether more alarming. Out of nowhere, they produced enormous brutal knives, with blades of gold, and began hurling them at the retreating Terran

troopers with terrifying accuracy. Soldiers began to fall as the enormous blades, each the length of an arm, ripped through their flesh. The blades were

brutally curved, and the design was more deadly than it appeared. as one of the few soldiers who had survived the strike of the blade writhed in pain, a

Skaarj Warrior marched over, and tore the blade out. The curves, which had allowed the blade to penetrate flawlessly, now acted like violent hooks,

tearing out massive chunks of flesh as the blade was pulled from the corpse. The Commander was franticly shouting into a microphone, contacting the

Mercenary Trooper Ships above. The Mercenary Warriors had been at war with the Skaarj for centuries. The Commander demanded immediate

reinforcements be dropped to their location. The Mercenary Squadron commander confirmed the order. The Skaarj Warriors continued beating against

the door of the fortress, and the door began to splinter. Like most Terran bases, this outpost was built inside an old Nali Citadel, from the ages of strife,

long before any alien race arrived on Na Pali. The doors were simple wood, and the walls were of stone. A Nali with a fog-like blue tinge to his skin

marched forward, and stood before the splintering door, and began murmuring under his breath. As the door burst open, the Nali held out it's hands, and

unleashed a hail of Fireballs on the Skaarj Warriors, killing three of them. One of them hurled a blade at the Nali as it burned, and the blade cut through

the Nali's chest, killing it. The Skaarj swarmed into the building, killing everything they found. The Officer backed into a corner, emptying an entire CAR

Clip into ones chest. As he reached for his Enforcer, a cruel golden blade ripped through his throat, and everything faded to red.
