Time for a story, kids.
Yesterday I made an honest effort to kick Comcast in the mouth and move on to another internet provider. I called AT&T knowing they serviced in my area and since I had home phone through them I assumed I could get some sort of bundle. After waiting over an hour for a representative they told me straight out "we do not have any services in your area". Excuse me? My neighbors on both sides have AT&T DSL and I myself have home phone. I was told that there is no way that is accurate because they do not service in my area at all and asked for my phone number. After being put on hold they seemed confused about how I had their service at all and how my address was set to the town next to mine. After a few more minutes I was forwarded to their superior who told me that they did, in some cases (?) allow service in my area but they were at their limit for DSL. I asked if they offered U-VERSE in my area and it was a resounding no.
Amazing.
Next on the list was Verizon. I'll make this short.
Represenative: <<town>> doesn't exist, sir.
So I gave up and called Comcast to see if they had any current deals or promotions available to current customers and I was informed that I had the cheapest rates available for my services ($54 for Basic Television and Economy Broadband). I checked to see what the price would be to remove television since I only watch Netflix and channels I can get with an antennae these days to which I was told that since I currently have a bundle, the price of either without the other would still be $54.
Fun stuff.
