That was a good dagger....;A;

I grinned sheepishly at Ryle as the angsty boy stalked away. "Well...he sure seems thankful."

Ryle just smiled a little and headed toward the house. I started to follow him, but he stopped and said, "Actually, Caelia, would you care to fetch my shepherding supplies? I left them by the cliff. I would get them myself, but I should see to the guest...."

I didn't hesitate. This guy saved my life two times after all...Plus that sweet voice was way too convincing. I turned and headed happily after the baas and bleats in the distance.

"Hellooo," I hummed as I neared the herd. The sheep slowly looked up at me with huge black eyes, while the goats' strange rectangular pupils stared into my circular ones. Freaky.

Taking Ryle's bag, I swung it over my shoulder and started to head back when an ominous scattering sounded from below. Curious, I peeked over top the cliff face to see what it was.

A boy swathed in gray, earthy tunics was scrambling down the side of the cliff with obvious difficulty. Every move he made sent pebbles pattering down the rock wall, while his footing crunched the rocks beneath him.

Suddenly a swarm of bats exploded from a crack in the cliff, and the boy let out a high pitched scream. The bats continued to flutter around him, crashing into him as they fled. I couldn't even see him through the mass of black.

And just then, as the bats flew away, there wasn't a boy anymore.

Long raven hair flowed around her face, flustered by the sudden attack. Instead of the earthy toned cloak, forest green and emerald dress robes clothed her. She was obviously Inifer.

"My necklace!" she whispered, frantically searching the cracks around her.

I frowned and slid down the slope towards her. She whirled around as scittering pebbles bounced past her, followed by myself. As she turned to flee, my daggers flashed through my hands and collided with the stone, catching her dress.

"What are you doing on Devaneir territory?" I queried.

She blinked and replied, "I could ask you the same thing."

I glanced down at my loose sandy clothes and incredibly tan skin. I laughed and joked, "So you're a spy too?"

"No! I swear! I was just sent to get some supplies- and- Please, don't tell anyone!" she panicked.

I smiled. "I'm just kidding, I believe you." She seemed to relax greatly at this. But she bristled again as she took my dagger from her dress.

"Do you know how much time it took me to sew this?!" she puffed. For a second I thought she was gonna throw my dagger at me-

"Whoa!" She threw it.

I threw out a hand to deflect it, painfully making contact. It clattered down the mountain as I rubbed my hand. "Ow."

"Gah! I'm so sorry!!" the girl looked horrified. "I lost my temper-"

"You should be. That was a good dagger!"

She looked at me with a mix between horror and insanity, but composed herself as she begged, "Please, forgive me, I'll do anything."
