Sadie 3

"PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!" Lily whined loudly. "I REALLY want to go to that basketball game." I sighed.
I was chopping pepper in Home Ec when Lily had come in. She was on her lunch break and had walked from the fifth grade wing all the way to the sophomore wing.
"Go back, Lily, you're going to be late getting back to class.." I replied. I moved on to chopping carrots.
"Not untill you give me an answer!...and a carrot." She said stubbornly. She jut out her lip like she knew she was really going to have to push it.
"Why don't you get Xavier to take you?" I replied stalling.
"You knoooooow he's working late tonight. And then when he comes home he'll be to tired to even take me to watch the end of it. All you have to do is walk me. Those stupid police men won't let me in without someone older." She sighed.
"Those stupid police men keep criminals away." I avoided answering her actual request. I started boiling the noodles.
"Why don't you want to go? He was nice! He has that feeling about him that makes you feel cozy like you're wrapped in clouds. And he smells nice. Like sunshine." She smiled at that.
I was starting to get creeped out. "Um...so you want to go so you can smell him some more?" I asked.
"NO!!! That is NOT why we're going. YOU need a friend. You have NO friends."
I was offended. "I have friends!"
"Your english teacher does not count." I flinched. I guess she got me.
"We're going! I'll do laundry for a week...two weeks even!" I sighed. I tossed the noodles, carrots, peppers into a pot with other ingredients.
"Fine. But no smelling him." A huge grin lit her face.
"Right. No smelling. Laundry for two weeks. And a question...what are you making?" She asked me this just as my soup exploded.

I came out of the bathroom. I still smelled like smoke. So I wasn't the best at cooking, so what? Usually Xavier cooks anyways. And thats why im taking Home Ec. I was so involved in my thoughts I didn't see where I was going and bumped into someone. "Hey, Watch where you're going!" she yelled.
Crap. My books all tumbled to the floor. Im being forced to go to a basketball game, my lunch exploded and now im being clumsy. Today is not my day.

The girl was just standing there even after I had finished collecting my things. She looked flustered like she was trying to find something to say. Or maybe she was waiting for my to say sorry?
"Sorry. Didn't see where I was going." My voice sounded like a robot. I really need to work on that. I thought.
"Its...allright." She still stood there. What would Lily do...
"Whats your name?" I tried to sound like I cared.
"...Liese. Um...Do you know where the office is?" She looked like she was trying really hard to be nice. I could try to, I guess.
"It's this way. Here, I'll show you." We went down a hallway. "Are you a new student?" She nodded. Seems like new people were popping up all over the place. We entered the office. "If your turning in your paperwork, you're going to need to go see Mrs. Haley at that desk." She nodded again and walked off.

I wonder. I thought to myself. Maybe if im nice...I could actually make friends. But then I shot that thought down when I remember what that guy did to her.
