Welcome to my little corner of The Otaku!

Let me introduce myself. I sign my art as "Kasey-chan", so feel free to call me that. My interest in drawing started when my sister and I went down to the book store and we discovered How-To-Draw-Anime books. It took off from there.
When I'm not scribbling away I am pursuing work in theatrical properties, spending way too much time on Netflix, watching too much TV, and wishing radioactive waste really did give people superpowers.

Here's some of my favorite things :).

Anime: Miyazaki's works, Tokyo Godfathers, Astro Boy (2003)
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin and Hana Kimi
American Cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
TV Shows: Merlin (BBC), Firefly, Mystery Science Theater 3000
Movies: The Secret of Kells, The Adventures of Tintin, X-Men: First Class, The Iron Giant, Muppet Treasure Island, Treasure Planet, RoboGeisha, Sharktopus
Books: Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey,Jane Eyre
Colors: Green!
Superheroes: Batman and Spiderman

Art Trades and Requests

I'm pretty much up for anything except yaoi/yuri. PM me .

It all started with Nosferatu

Lately I've been on this old monster movie kick. It started after I rented Nosferatu from our college library on the recommendation of my sister. That movie is pretty kick-ass, I was not expecting a silent movie to be so very creepy. If you watch it, Twilight will be the biggest disappointment ever, even more than it is now, which is saying something. (PS: Another fun way to ruin Twilight forever is to read Bram Stoker's Dracula. Three chapters into that book and you will never want to read Twilight again.).
So anyway, that lead to me looking up more old horror movies, and even sparked interest in Film Noir flicks. The only one of those I have seen is Maltese Falcon, which is pretty awesome. As for horror, it's mostly Dracula and other vampire films. I tried to get London After Midnight, but quickly found out that it's a lost film. Someday I hope it will be found somewhere. Lon Chaney rocks my socks.
In other life news, I'm working on an acting project called "Gospel of Mark". The title speaks for itself. We basically went through the entire Gospel and selected stories which we tell to the audience. There are a whole bunch of versions used, so it's kind of cool because the language of every story is different. Plus we put in a lot of pantomime and add-libbing, so it makes it a pretty fun play to do. Our last rehearsal is Wednesday, which makes me sad. But we still have our performances :).
Next week is my spring break, so I'll probably be on a lot then

OC Contest :)

So I entered this OC Contest a while back and today found out that my character won first! For those of you who don't keep up with my manga, the character was Yaku from Moriko No Akakonami. He's one of my oldest and most favourite characters, so I'm glad he's getting some notice. :).
On a slightly different note, the art trade I'm doing with Gadriann is actually coming along. It's kind of weird though haha. I'm sure Gadriann won't mind.
So life is pretty good in general. I just want this week to be over so I can just take my finals and leave. I'm getting pumped for Jane Austen's birthday on December 16th! Other than that I'm getting into the Christmas spirit more and more. This time of year is amazing.
here's a pic. I watched Batman Forever last night, which didn't have the Joker, but I'm still in the Batman mood.

I'm beginning to be alive again

So I actually managed to get some art up. We'll see how long this keeps happening. Once Comedy of Errors starts, I don't foresee much free time. I'm still working on my manga, however, and might be able to keep doing that because I don't require the use of a computer. This is going to be a very long few months.

New Style

So, I have decided to make a new style for myself. This doesn't mean my old style will be thrown out the window or anything. I just feel like right now it's a little generic looking. So I'm making a new manga out of this style. However, don't hold your breath, because I don't plan to have pages out for a while. This is due to me exploding with the sudden conviction that I depend on computers far too much to make my art look good. Hence, I'm attempting to do everything by pen, down to the last detail. Okay, so I'll edit with the computer still. Yup. So I'm going to kill myself on this one.
Oh yeah. Side note. Mark Hamill rocks my socks.
So do the Beatles.

Last Day Has Ended

Well it was my last day working at the G______ Playhouse today, appropriately it was pouring and we all got soaking wet loading the last of the scenery into storage and then saying goodbye. I must say, I will miss the people more than the job. It was a little sad, but I'm so happy to be leaving and having a life for a month before school! I already started the cover for my manga and am in the slow and painful process of reading Mansfield Park. I love Jane Austen and am attempting to read all of her novels (I've only actually read Northanger Abbey). Mansfield Park is my least favorite anyway so I probably shouldn't have started with it. Blech. I just hate Fanny.
Anyway, on Facebook a while back there was this list going around of 100 classics most people have only read 6 of. I resolved to read all of them before I was 30. Most of Ms. Austen's novels are there, so I figured I'd just tackle them all. yay. Mansfield Park is killing me.
Yup, so aparently I missed some art thief drama. Soooooo sorry that blew over my head. I believe the term "ignorant bliss" would be appropriate here.
Anywhoo, be looking out for my manga!!!!!
here's a fun pic, thought it was appropriate since my mangas about vampires...
