Implode

Another paragraph based on a one-word prompt.

It's not as though I didn't try to hold it together from the outside.

Damn, I pulled yards' worth of duct tape off the roll, wrapping and twining. Where I come from, we're taught that you can fix anything with duct tape and band-aids.

I think the world is crumpling inward and I don't know what to do. Duct tape won't keep that vital matter from being sucked out, won't keep perception from contracting and wrinkling like an old birthday balloon once another year of youth has been left to the dusty matter that comprises this life.

Perhaps I should let it. And really, what choice do I have? I'm staving off an inexorable vacuum force with my last roll of duct tape and a stray band-aid. Maybe it's time to just go with it. See what happens next.

And, damn it, if nothing holds up, well, no one can say I didn't try.
