So I've actually been pretty active on here today. It's been a while since I posted any of my own work, so here is a poem called 'Long Ago'. A while ago I posted one called 'Teacher' and that one, plus this one, won me second place in a poetry slam...I won cinnamon bread, which my family then promptly devoured. Anyway...here you go.

Long Ago

There are not enough words
to put to voice this thing which is
as unreal as I am at this late hour,
and what can be said is only that

lost in the midst of Long Ago
is a young girl with her heart in the ocean,
her eyes on the promise of the sky,
and her head intertwined with cool winds and clouds.

What can be said is only that
Long Ago is Far Away,
nearly forgotten, and fished out
now from a dark deep sea.
