Chapter 40

"Good, then you can get dressed for the moon festival," Koori said with a sly smile on his lips. The moon festival? How would demons know about that, or want to go to one?

"That's a human festival" Hyaku said. He didn't sound pleased or displeased. He sounded confused on why Koori would suggest such a thing.

"I know, and don't you think kiana would want to go out in a date? Also, think of it as a celebration for you." He said with a grin, coming to stand next to me and leaned up against the wall.

Hyaku sighed, "Kiana would you like to go to the festival?" He turned and looked at me.

"Of course she would!" Koori answered for me, patting me on the shoulder. It would be nice to go, I had to admit.

"You're not Kiana moron!" He shook his head at his friend. "Just go tell hana," he huffed. He turned to look at me and smiled.

I returned the smile. "I would enjoy being out and about with you, but do you really think it's a good idea? I mean, you are still recovering," I was worried the wound might reopen again, and I didn't want him to pass out on me or die.

He shrugged his broad shoulders as the demon finished bandaging him. "The wound has healed a lot already; I'll be fine," he assured me. When he saw that I was about to protest, he continued, "I'm a demon; demons heal much more quickly than humans. Don't worry so much."

I nodded. Maybe I was just being silly. "Okay, as long as you're sure."

He came over to me, still shirtless, and placed his hands on my shoulders. I couldn't help but stare at his bare chest for several seconds before looking him in the eyes. He had caught me staring and was smirking down at me. I turned several shades of red. "I'm more than sure. Now, go get changed so we can enjoy ourselves tonight," he said, giving me a quick kiss on my forehead before pushing me out the door.

I gave him one more look over my shoulder before I disappeared into my room. A beautiful kimono was already laid out on the bed, ready for me to slip into. Smiling, I made a note to thank koori later.

A knock on my door had me smiling. I had just finished getting changed, and I was now ready to go and have some fun with Hyaku. Opening the door, Hyaku grinned down at me. "You look lovely," he told me happily.

"Thanks," I said shyly. Arm in arm, we walked out of the house together and off to the Moon Festival. Tonight was going to be a night I would never forget, that much was certain.
