Vampire Anime

For some reason I got in the mood to watch vampire anime. I've no idea why since I'm not a huge fan of vampire shows in general. So I picked up one called Nightwalker. It's an older anime and a bit dated but it was amusing from the angle of how cheesy it was. I also found the innuendos that they managed to include funny too. I mean it was probably dubbed back when they were still heavily editing things.

Next I watched one called Tsukihime. It had a fairly decent concept but they tossed in some obvious fan service stuff that sort of took the fun out of it. So I looked further into it and found that it's based on some adult game, so no surprise there. It's a shame really since it could have been a lot better without that crap in it.

Now I'm watching one called Karin which is about a vampire that produces too much blood instead of taking it. The show is clearly a comedy and it does make me laugh, but I find the OP rather irritating with it's obvious fan service imagery. So now I'm watching it and skipping the opening music since those scenes, so far, don't really fit the show at all. I don't care if it's considered 'soft' fanservice since it's not explicit. I just find fanservice for the sake of it, stupid at times.

I'm also watching another one called Vampire Knight. The animation for it is quite pretty and it has some interesting concepts about vampires, but so far it's a bit to angsty for my tastes. The main female character kind of irks me with her stupidity at times and parts of it come across like a poorly done 'vampire falls in love with a mortal' romance spiel. Good thing it's only 13 episodes. I might not finish it otherwise.

Next up, I should get Hellsing. I've seen a few episodes so it would be nice to finally see the rest. That and I've heard it's a good show, if a bit violent. :p
