Winter Change

She loves me not Kirby.
It was a miracle. We were going to dinner at A formal restaurant. We ate the food gratefully. I had never eaten something so fattening since Thanksgiving. She wore a beautiful black dress. Her straw colored hair.

"This is nice." she said

Then someone came. It was my mother. No, It couldn't be.
She waited at a table. I've never seen my mom dress her best. She had curled her hair. What was she doing? A man
came in and sat at her table. No. Haley saw my expression. She saw my mom. I put my credit card on the table.

"See you."I said.

I got home and punched a hole through my wall. Crap.
I was so angry. Why would she do that? Why did she hate me? I drank my problems away and fell asleep. I woke up with a major headache. I repaired my truck in the freezing cold and drove to work. I drove my taxi around, picking people up, dropping them off. Then a woman hopped in.

"1657 Harold Drive." She said.

She had a beautiful face. Her teeth just needed to be fixed.
I turned the corner. "How are you today?" I asked.

"I'm good thank you. What's your name?"

"Noah."

"I'm Audrey. Nice to meet you."

"How was your Christmas?" I asked.

"It was good. Everyone got what they wanted."

"That's good."I replied.

I turned the corner on the vehicle and parked.

"Thirty-five dollars and twenty three cents." I said, turning in my seat.

Audrey gave me forty dollars. I got my change, but Audrey was at the window.
I rolled the window down. "Here's your change." I said, holding it out.

"Keep it,"Audrey said,"You're a good person Noah. You deserve it."

With that, Audrey walked up to a house. I shifted gears and took off down the road.
