that would probably be best if you didn't want to try to find butterfly decorations to put on the cake. I would say just make them out of frosting or find edible candies.
if you wanted to if you have frosting tubes you can put a base frosting on the cake them make a whole bunch of little butterfly's with little dashs behind them to make them look like they have been flying around on the cake.
