Hey All, my real name is Dave, and I originally joined theO as a wallpaper maker, but now I've been more focused on fan art and improving my work. I've been a member for about 10 years now, including various name changes lol.

As for my anime tastes, I'm a huge fan of sci-fi, action/shounen, and mecha. My first ever complete manga series was Love Hina, which I still rank as my favorite, and its also what pushed me to draw more. Akamatsu-sensei's Negima is also highly ranked on my list and also acts as a source of inspiration (although I prefer his style from Volumes 13 & 14 of Love Hina a little more lol).

Currently, I'm reading Bleach and UQ Holder!. I haven't been following much anime that's been airing lately since most of it is seemingly loli fanservice-type shows. I try and follow any Gundam series that I can, and I was actually impressed with the Build Fighters series; it focuses more on camaraderies and rivalries that are surprisingly well written. It's pretty childish, but I get a kick out of all the easter eggs hidden within it. I also own a variety of Miyazaki's movies due to their charm and underlying messages about our world and the environment.

I also game a little bit when I'm not drawing or at work/school; I mainly play RPGs and fighters, but I have dabbled into 3rd person shooters (Vanquish, Crysis series), some action adventure games, and racing (Gran Turismo 5). I also enjoy RTSs, but I pretty much only play Starcraft II on and off.

As for school/employment, I am currently employed with the electronics retailer The Source up in Canada, and I'm attending college to become a Medical Lab Technician. I'll be done around October 2015, then I can work in any diagnostic lab/hospital to help diagnose diseases!

Cheers,

Commission! No Longer a Student XD

Hey All,

Sorry for the lack of content, I've been working on a commission for High Intensity Records as I was recommended to do a T-shirt design for them. I just finished tonight, but can't go public with it just yet. I'll hopefully be back to my regular weekly submission schedule this week or next week.

I also decided to drop my Masters degree, since jobs in academia right now are next to non-existent, and I realized the lab is simply not for me. My insomnia is still ongoing, but now that I am essentially unemployed I have more time to focus on getting my insomnia cured. Looks like I might have some dental/orthodontic issues that may be causing it, so I've been back n' forth with the associated medical staff to get looked at. Still have some exams next week lol.

So, once I sleep better I'll look for a job to pay off my student debt, then I might look into some graphic art courses or get into teaching. I was a tutor for awhile, enjoyed it, and apparently I was great at it, so maybe that's my calling :P I'll still be posting art up all the same!

Ending teh Hiatus!!

Hi everyone!

Some of you may have noticed, but I've been making an effort to submit weekly again. There was a little bit of a slow down the past couple of weeks because I was on vacation in Mexico, and then I was sick for a week. So now I'm officially ending the hiatus that started in November by submitting my first digital work in awhile. After looking up tutorials for Corel Painter Essentials 4, I found a far more effective way to colour and blend, saving on time and frustration with layers lol.

I've also decided to put my manga planning on hold, since I keep saying I'm gonna start it but I never do. Truth is I don't use my time effectively, and I don't think I'm good enough to start it yet. I'm a little bit of a quality freak you see, so I'd rather be happy with the quality of my work first before I start it. So for now I'll just be continuing to draw and practice to build up the skills I'll need to go through with RUSH.

I'm also in kind of a crappy place in my personal life since I still suffer from severe insomnia, and I'm thinking of dropping my Master's degree since I'm not getting anywhere with it, and the career prospects in Science are pretty terrible at the moment. But I don't have a contingency plan yet so I don't want to cut my only source of income lol. Luckily for you guys I will continue to draw regardless, as it is one of the few things I'm still decent at and it keeps me sane when lack of sleep starts gnawing away at my sanity xD

As an added treat, I uploaded my speed sketch debut on youtube!

Hiatus Extended

Hey All,

As I'm still getting used to the treatments for insomnia, I can't seem to get anything decent done on paper. It's a little frustrating as my head's always foggy, and I can't seem to get inspired/motivated to draw anything. You'd think it would be the other way around as I went to my first ever anime convention yesterday with some friends and saw some amazing artists, and even bought a print from Xiao Bai (an amazing tatoo artists/manga illustrator specializing in oriental women is the best way to describe it lol).

So, whenever my head clears I'll be sure to submit something, and hopefully be able to go all out to make up for the extended lack of content.

On Hiatus this Week

Hey All,

Just a heads up that there won't be any submissions this week! I'm going home to visit the family and get my insomnia looked at, so there won't be much time for drawing lol. I also have another commission to work on for a coworker, so that might come out next weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving! Insomnia Sucks

For those of us up here in Canada, its the Thanksgiving long weekend! I was at home for most of it, but had to go into work on the holiday since my cell lines grow too fast lol.

I've been having problems with my random insomnia, as it seems to be hitting more frequently as of late. So there won't be any submissions this week sadly. I guess it was a good thing I did 2 last week lol. Still trying to figure out Naomi's "battle mode" for lack of a better word, although I do have some basic ideas coming out. Hopefully I'll have some draft sketches up next week.
