We accept her! We accept her! One of us!

Finally beat that bastard boss that was giving me so much shit in Radiant Historia. Protip: Aht is a freakin' beast as long as you are not facing a gigantic boss like that spider that almost killed the hell out of me not soon after. (I was down to Raynie when I killed it.)

Freaks (1932): Is it weird that I think one of the great tragedies of the cinema is that a half-hour was cut from Freaks? This is why the Hays Code sucked. Freaks is still a good movie with a creepy ass -- and kind of hilarious -- ending, but it feels rushed in many places, and there's a tacked on ending that is awful. The people of 1932 are officially on my shit list.

Break Blade 6 (2011): Whatever. Once again, watched it just for the sweet mecha action and couldn't have given less of a shit about the story, which comes to a decently satisfying conclusion but leaves room for more should Xebec decide to make more.

Key Largo (1948): The story is just kind of there, with a somewhat overbearing divine intervention theme, but the execution is top notch, with the great lighting that film noir is known for, and some great acting all around. This might be the first time I've seen Edward G. Robinson as a villain; he's definitely good at it, and really, the guy has a villain's face, anyway lol. I mean, damn.

The Grand Illusion (1937): Been at least five or six years since I first saw this movie, so I forgot a lot of it. The movie's actually much more fun than I remember; I laughed a lot through the whole thing. And what's interesting about is that a lot of the things people bring up about this movie -- the class-related stuff, and how it's about the death of Old Europe and the rise of the lower class -- isn't overbearing in the least. That's pretty rare when a movie has some sort of social point to make.

On the queue for this week: Hermes: Winds of Love (1997), The Seven Year Itch (1955)
