*insert inexplicable dancing here*

I don't have anything to say here. Moving along!

Downfall (2004): Maybe I am just burned out on World War II movies/war movies in general right now, but I had a difficult time getting into this movie. It's not that it's poorly made; it's just that the war has had movies created about it from every conceivable angle, to the point where Quentin Tarantino literally changing history in Inglourious Basterds is the only fresh take left. Anyway, what's here is compelling and all, but eh.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006): Wow, grimdark out of nowhere. Lots of mutants getting killed and/or having their powers drained, yikes. This is about on par with the first movie for me. There are some good bits, but also some pretty stupid stuff. (Much of it having to do with romance, which is universally terrible in the X-Men movies.) Also, it's the third movie, and they're still cramming in tons of mutants. And LOL I totally forgot about the "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" meme. I remember being like, "lolwut" when I heard that it was worked into this movie, and now I'm basically like "lol" actually seeing it because it's so corny.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010): I'm not sure whether it's because this is actually a good movie, or because of the strength of the material, but I did mostly like this movie. Maybe it's a bit of both, even though the movie possesses many of my problems with the Harry Potter movies: Overly brisk pacing, hilarious angst (which, to be fair, is a problem they share with the books), cramming way too much stuff into the plot, etc. There's also this totally inexplicable scene after Ron leaves in an evil necklace-enhanced huff where Harry and Hermione dance to a Nick Cave tune, and I was torn between confusion and hysterical laughter. Seriously, wtf? My brother didn't even remember this scene when I brought it up to him. But other than that, the movie is good.

On the queue for this week: Bullitt (1968), Winnie the Pooh (2011), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011) (maybe)
