So, I beat Portal just now! Don't think I could have chosen a better game to get me back in the swing of things with consoles. It's definitely the type of video game I prefer: Simple on the outside, but complex in how it challenges the gamer. Anyone can understand the concept of Portal at first glance; however, it takes some good thinking to wrap your mind around the tougher puzzles. Loved every second of it.
Gameplay-wise, I'd say my favorite part is at the end of Chamber 18, where you fling yourself vertically to the exit. It took me a few tries (and at least 10 lives lol) to get the timing down, but once I did, holy crap what a rush. So awesome. I'm kind of sad that's the only part of the game where you do something like that (although the turret room in Chamber 19 counts, sort of).
Speaking of Chamber 19, my second favorite gameplay bit is definitely sniping those bastard turrets. So awesome.
Writing-wise, if I had to pick a favorite line, it would definitely be when GLaDOS tries to act like her attempt to murder Chell in the incinerator is a big joke. Hilarious. I also love her last core sphere snarling like the Tasmanian Devil.
Anyway, I think I'll be writing a bit about each of the games I end up finishing. Don't know how long it will take me to go through all of them, because I got plenty lol. Portal 2 is up next, but my brother is near the end of Portal, and I don't want to keep him from beating the game, too. :p
