The King's Speech (2010): Pretty good movie, definitely not nearly as somber and masturbatory as you might expect from a period flick that had the Oscar committee wetting itself. It's actually a lot of fun to watch -- I think Geoffrey Rush always makes things more fun. Also, I'm so used to seeing Helena Bonham Carter act like a weirdo that I didn't recognize for like a half hour lol. Black Swan is still No. 1 for me, but I don't have a huge problem with King's Speech as Best Picture. Now I just need to see 127 Hours, The Kids Are All Right and The Fighter of the Best Picture nominees.
Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus (2010): Watched it after Molly seemed to have so much fun watching it lol. I love these goofy SyFy monster movies. Terrible CGI, Steve Urkel as the lead actor, people getting eaten every other scene ... what more do you need?
The Abyss (1989): Good for the most part, until it falls apart at the end and becomes too preachy and cheesy for my taste. Before then, though, the movie builds a great mood of paranoia and actually takes its time developing everything. I balked at first at the long running time (I watched the nearly three-hour special edition), but I think the type of movie this is warrants the running time. Just wish it didn't end in such a goofy way. Oh well.
