I always go backwards when I back up.

Remember, we're watching The Quick and the Dead tonight. Be there!

Black Swan (2010): This is a pretty tough movie to watch, but I loved the hell out of it. Just a fantastically done psychological thriller with a killer performance from Natalie Portman. She is hereby absolved for all the Star Wars prequels that never happened. But, yeah, holy crap this is amazingly tense. A lot has been made about how similar it is to Satoshi Kon's Perfect Blue, and superficially, I'd say there is something to that claim. There are definitely nods to that movie in the overall tone of Black Swan, and in certain scenes, but the two movies go in different directions with similar material. But, yeah, if you liked Perfect Blue, then absolutely see Black Swan, and vice versa.

Clue (1985): Come on. It's freaking Clue. Always awesome.

Scarface (1983): Have to admit, I love when Al Pacino goes completely over the top. And it definitely works here due to the nature of Tony Montana: He has absolutely nothing in the beginning of the movie aside from his ability to bluff and intimidate. The only way he can get ahead is by presenting himself as the biggest, baddest man around, and by appearing to be way crazier than everyone else. (Which is a feat because he's surrounded by cokeheads.) I think it's overrated to an extent since a bunch of dumb gangstas have completely misinterpreted the movie, but it actually is good. And very '80s, haha.

Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned (1980): Bahaha, this is a hilariously awful anime movie with a truly top line terrible English dub. I don't even want to give away anything about it; just seek it out, and watch. You will not be disappointed.

True Grit (2010): Really well done western. Not a blow you away incredible movie, but it's a lot of fun and definitely worth seeing in theaters. I especially thought Hailee Steinfeld was great as Mattie Ross. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon are great and all, but she really carries the movie. You know it's badass when she out negotiates the horse trader. Good times.

Perfect Blue (1997): Had to rewatch this after seeing Black Swan. I think Millennium Actress is Satoshi Kon's best movie, but this is my favorite, tough as it is to watch at times. I'm just a sucker for this kind of psychological thriller.
