This week sucked.

But I'm just going to focus on how much today sucked.

So before I went to work I checked my voicemail and found a message from my boss about the system we use for basically everything being blasted with technical issues since about 10 minutes after I left the night before. And he wanted people to come in as early as possible since our deadline for all papers was moved up to 8 p.m. for god knows what reason.

Then I'm hauling ass as quickly and legally as possible through the streets, thinking that I'm holding everyone up because I didn't notice the message in time, but no, the problems are preventing several people from signing on to the system, so I couldn't have worked even if I went in early.

But, yes, our deadline is 8 p.m., so I bust my ass for five straight hours, working as quickly as I can and getting in every page before deadline. I didn't even get to eat dinner. But, of course, we had photo problems (our photos have to be electronically adjusted so that they display better in the newspaper) for two fucking hours so I had to sit there and wait for that shit to get resolved, even though I worked my ass off to get everything in on time. Unfuckingbelievable.

This was the cherry on top of being in the midst of furloughs and also learning that we're all getting a 5.5 percent pay cut starting in March. What a fucking wonderful week this has been. God.

At least tomorrow will be good. Remember, everyone: I did push the Heathers viewing back to its original time: 3 p.m. EDT/12 p.m. PDT. If my friends try to change plans at the last moment, I will rip their heads off with the rage I have built tonight.

It has been dry cleaned.

OK, so out of nowhere -- and I'll update the post yet again if this happens for sure -- we'll probably have to push the movie get-together back to 3 p.m. EDT/noon PDT. Sorry to jerk you all around, but I have the most indecisive, flighty ...

I am not lovable.

Man, if I ever make a definitive top 25 movies list for myself, I can't see any way The Manchurian Candidate doesn't make it on there. Holy crap, even better the second time around -- still biting political satire, crazy story, crazy char...

Why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire?

The Manchurian Candidate (1962 version) won the vote, so we'll be watching that during the next meeting. However, I just realized there's something I forgot to mention a couple of days ago: Apparently I am working next Tuesday, and my days off next week are Wednesday and Thursday. Which of those days works better for people? I am fine with either one. The time would be the same as usual, of course.

But, yes, I'll bump this once I get more input on the date.

EDIT: OK, if everyone is cool with Wednesday, then we'll be watching the movie this coming Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 10 p.m. EDT/7 p.m. PDT.

The room will be called Manchuria, and the password will be diamondqueen. Also, The Manchurian Candidate is a weird movie (even by my standards), so I'm looking forward to the reactions from everyone!

EDIT2: Customary bump!

Just look at that parking lot.

Remember, we'll be watching The Manchurian Candidate tomorrow and not tonight, because I am working tonight! Boo! The Quick and the Dead (1995)...
