much later

"I think I'm completely and really stupidly in love with your dumbass of a brother, Chide." Raze said. They were sitting outside together, her and Chide, on the swings just like they always did when they'd had a talk. Chide laughed as he whizzed past Raze. They were 17 and 18 but still insisted on swinging like toddlers, hooting and screeching like children and yelling confessions into the sky.

"No shit sherlock!" Chide shouted back. "So tell him already!"

"I can't!" Raze chimed. She sounded absolutely giddy and it made Chide smile.

"Why!"

Raze stopped swinging and waited to come to a stop before continuing. Chide jumped off his swing and stumbled to a stop. Raze was grinning, leaning on the chain and scuffing her feet in the wood chips. "I'd rather wait until after the holidays. That was its not weird you know, if it doesn't go well." Chide scoffed.

"You know he's head over heels, Raze. he's just an idiot and probably doesn't realize it himself." She shrugged, still smiling. It was good to see her outside of school where everywhere she turned she was picking a fight and inspiring fear in freshman or punching someone senseless in the girls bathroom. She leaned back in her swing until she was almost parallel with the ground. Chide tried to stifle a laugh and kicked her leg. She kicked him back. "I could make fun of you for so many things right now, dork."

"Try me," Raze threatened light heartedly.

"C'mon, Raze, it's getting late." She leaped off the swing and almost knocked Chide over.

"I'm really hungry." She muttered. They split a milky way bar on the way back to the apartment.
