After Vanessa stormed off I went over to Mandy and stuck a hand out to help her up back on to her feet, which she accepted the hand, “I’m so sorry, she was out of line.” I apologized, I hated when Vanessa acted this way especially towards Mandy and Jason. She really didn’t have any right to be doing this.
“It’s not your fault.” Mandy said quietly.
“I know but still…” I looked down.
“You might want to go before you get yelled at.” Jason said to me and I nodded.
“I’m sorry again.” I bowed quickly then ran off the catch up with Vanessa.
“Your late John.” Vanessa commented as I slowed down to a walk.
“I’m sorry miss.” I bowed my head as we briskly walked to the ballroom.
Vanessa burst through the doors of the ballroom almost knocking another one of the servants off of one of the tall ladders.
“Miss please be careful you almost knocked someone off the ladder.” I told her.
“But I didn’t so whatever, Just hang these up.” Vanessa said to me not even caring as she shoved some streamers in my face and then went ranting off making sure that the cake was done and that the ice sculpture was going to be in on time.
I blew some of my hair out of my face and then continued to go over to the servant that Vanessa almost knocked over and apologized for her rude behavior. Everyone was use to it but with her parents she could do no wrong. That’s dead wrong she just had good timing to make it look like she did nothing wrong and she was a perfect little angel. There were so many times in my life that she broke something and then I got punished for it. It was really getting on my nerves. I was hoping that after this coming of age ceremony that she would finally understand that she cannot get everything that she wants and that she has responsibilities just like the rest of us.
“John.” I heard Vanessa say as I was hanging the last streamer.
“I’m almost done miss.” I said.
“JOHN!” Vanessa screamed almost making me fall off the ladder from her sudden outburst.
“Yes miss?” I asked politely.
“I need you to come to my room with me so that way I can get ready for the party.” Vanessa told me.
I sighed and rolled my eyes then got down off the ladder, “Yes miss.” I smiled at her and I followed her to her room.
“Now where is my dress?” Vanessa ordered.
“It is on your bed miss.” I told her ‘If you would open your frickin’ eyes for once. If it was a snake it would have bite you right in the butt.’ I thought to myself as Vanessa skipped over to her dress and then picked it up.
Her smile quickly fell when she was able to quickly look over the dress. “This is not my dress.” She told me.
“Yes it is miss, you picked it out.” I told her taking a step closer.
“IT HAS PURPLE IN IT JOHN!!!” Vanessa shouted at me and threw the dress at my face.
I pulled the dress off of my face and held it in your hands. “Get that disgraceful thing out of my sight.” Vanessa scoffed.
“For once in your life can you not act like a spoiled little brat?” I snapped at her and then I instantly took a few steps away.
Vanessa quickly caught up to me and full out smacked me right across the face. My cheek was burning and I was sure that I had a handprint on my right cheek. I instantly had a headache and my vision was a bit blurred.
Pulling the dress out of my hands she said, “Get out of my sight, I don’t want to see you for the rest of the night.” She pushed me out of her room and slammed the door in my face.
I turned to my left and started walking down the hallway. It wasn’t long till I saw Jason and Mandy walking towards me. I stopped and turned to the side to let them pass. “Good afternoon, Sir.” I bowed.
“John, please call me Jason with out the sir.” Jason told me and I stood up and smiled a little but my cheek was still throbbing. “What happened to your cheek?”
I looked down at the ground, “I stepped out of my place and lady Vanessa made sure that I didn’t step out of line again.” I answered him.
“She hit you really hard, I can see the bruise starting.” Mandy muttered from behind Jason.
“I’ll be alright.” I smiled, “It will go away. I should let you two be on your way, and I should get to my room before Vanessa comes storming out and sees me out and about still.” I said then continued onto my room.
